First Time in Dubai? Welcome.
Dubai is one of the most visited cities in the world and for good reason. It is dazzling, efficiently run, welcoming to visitors of all backgrounds and packed with extraordinary experiences. Here is what you need to know before you land.
Getting Around
Dubai’s Metro is clean, cheap and efficient, covering most major tourist areas. Taxis and rideshare apps (Careem, Uber) are widely available and affordable. For day trips and desert experiences, a private tour with door-to-door pickup is the most comfortable and stress-free option.
What to Wear
Dubai is a modern, cosmopolitan city. You can wear most things you would wear at home. However, when visiting mosques, souks or more conservative areas, modest dress (shoulders and knees covered) is appropriate. Swimwear is fine on beaches and at hotel pools.
Money and Payments
The currency is the UAE Dirham (AED). Most places accept credit cards, but cash is still widely used particularly in traditional markets and smaller restaurants. Tipping 10 to 15% in restaurants is customary but not mandatory.
